"Our challenge is to make old age not only acceptable but inviting. ...We can craft an old age that will be intellectually stimulating, socially rewarding, productive and fun. The greatest gift we could give to future generations is to say, 'Here's a way to be old that you'll want to be.' " Laura Carstensen, PhD, A Long Bright Future

Sausalito Village is a non-profit organization founded by a small group of volunteers who wanted to build a community of friendship and support among Sausalito's older residents. We are dedicated to enhancing the ability of our members to live independently and active in our community as we age.

We offer a wide variety of supportive services and volunteer opportunities, as well as educational, cultural, fitness, and social activities, all of which help our members to live safe, active, and connected lives.

The basic concept of Sausalito Village is neighbors helping neighbors, we encourage all of our members to consider ways that they can be of service to other members or the organization as a whole.  It may be as simple as a phone call to welcome a new member, a ride to a medical appointment or help setting up an event.

For details on how to become a member or a volunteer, or if you would simply like to learn more about us, give us a call at 415-332-3325 or contact us by email at [email protected].  You are also welcome to attend one or more of our meetings or events, most of which are open to the public. *** CALL FOR ARTISTS 60+ ***

94965 Intergenerational Art Show

at

Sausalito Center for The Arts

Hosted by Sausalito Village

ART SHOW:  November 14 – 24, 2024 during SCA hours

ARTIST RECEPTION:  Sunday, November 17, 3-5pm

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION FOR SUBMISSION:  October 15th

Sausalito Village is sponsoring an intergenerational art exhibit  held in the Sausalito Center for the Arts (SCA). The featured young artists are students at Martin Luther King Jr. Academy, and the featured senior artists either live or work in the 94965 zip code. The art was produced in our community by our awe-inspiring residents.

The SCA requires that shows in their space be juried. All artists age 60+ in 94965 are invited to submit original artwork to be considered. Space is limited so we are looking for work that is no larger than 36”x36”.

Here are the dates to remember —

Email work for jurying to Teddie Hathaway at [email protected] by October 15, providing the following:
1) Personal information - Name, Address, Email, Phone
2) Photo of the artwork (remember it will be juried based on the photo so be sure to send a good one)

3) A description including media, size, weight and price.
Note - All art must be for sale. When pricing your art consider that the SCA charges 35% commission on all sales.

Artists invited to participate will be notified by November 1.

Art (mounted, wired and ready-to-hang) needs to be delivered to the SCA on November 13 between 10 am and 1 pm. All art will be hung that day - sorry no latecomers. When you drop off the artwork, you will need to sign a waiver of liability to participate in the show.

The show will run November 14th though the 24th, Wednesdays through Sundays during the SCA’s normal hours of 11-5. Midway through the show everyone is invited to a reception honoring the artists that will be held on November 17 from 3-5pm - it’s a fun opportunity to see the art, chat with the artists, and enjoy live music performed by two of our artists.

Finally, there is no storage space - all unsold art must be picked up November 24th by 5pm at the close of the show.

Rules for submission, click HERE

The idea is simple - enjoy a meal while sitting in community with old friends or new.  We have volunteer servers who will get you seated and deliver the soup, bread, dessert and hot drinks to your table.

We invite you to join us the first Monday of every month unless it falls on a holiday, then it moves to the following Monday.  Time is 11:30am-1:00pm.  Open to all seniors in 94965 but reservations are required.  Go to the monthly SV calendar of events to reserve your spot.

Each month we invite a different business in town to create a hearty soup for attendees, usually there is a vegetarian and a non-vegetarian option. We also have live light music in the background lending a warm and inviting atmosphere to our monthly event.

Special thanks to Fr. Chip Larrimore and all of Christ Church for the use of Campbell Hall.

Limited parking is available.  If you would like a FREE ride from Dunphy Park or your home, call Wendy at CARSS (Call A Ride for Sausalito Seniors) at 415-944-5474 or email [email protected] by the Friday before.
