October Film: All the Beauty and the Bloodshed
The third film in our series focusing on 'Women in Film'
Oscar Winner Laura Poitras acclaimed deeply personal documentary about photographer Nan Goldin's life, career, and activism. Goldin, an American photographer and activist, often explores LGBT subcultures, the HIV/AIDS crisis, and the opioid epidemic. Her sense of realism and finding ordinary subjects had a great impact in the art world in the 1970s and 80's. The film tracks her career and activism, culminating in Goldin’s much-publicized war on the billionaire Sackler family, and her victories in getting museums to stop accepting Sackler donations, and getting the Sackler name removed from gallery and building plaques.PARKING IS TERRIBLE, please walk or call for a door to door ride at least 48 hours ahead to Wendy at 415-332-3325.
